I really enjoy Brandon Sanderson's writing and picked up this series because the series is considered his best. This first book was a little formulaic but I enjoyed the plot twists and the slow reveal of the magic system, despite the arbitrary changes that enable deus est machina plot changes. I liked the characters. 4/5 stars.
